Cake Care Guide

Use this Cake Care Guide to ensure your delicious treats stay in the best condition for you to enjoy.

Cake Care

  • When collecting your cakes/cupcakes/cookies please hold the box from the bottom.
  • Do not hold or push on the sides of the box as this may damage the item/s inside.
  • Your order should be transported flat in the footwell or in the boot of your car and not held by a passenger or placed on a seat.

Cake Storage

  • Cakes should be stored in the box in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight and somewhere they will not be knocked or moved.
  • In warm weather, a buttercream cake needs to be stored in the fridge in the box to avoid melting and colour running. The cake should be taken out of the fridge and allowed to come to room temperature in the box before placing it on display and cutting.
  • Fondant-covered cakes should not be placed in the fridge as the fondant will sweat and the colours may run.
  • Once cut, the cake can be wrapped in cling wrap and stored in the fridge for several days, allowing it to come to room temp before eating.

Cupcakes Storage

  • Cupcakes should NOT be stored in the fridge as they tend to dry out and lose their freshness faster.
  • Store them in the box they come in in a cool, dry room out of sunlight. After the event, any cupcakes left can be stored in an airtight container for several days.

Cookie Storage

  • Cookies should NOT be stored in the fridge as they will go soft.
  • Store cookies in the box they came in in a cool, dry room out of direct sunlight. After the event, any cookies left can be stored in an airtight container for several days.

Cake Decorations

  • Any non-edible decorations must be removed prior to the cake being cut and served. This may include but is not limited to: wires, pins, supports, figurines, and silk flowers.
  • Sugar paste flowers and figurines may be edible, but it is recommended that they be removed and kept as a keepsake of the celebration and may contain wire and dowels. Simply remove them from the cake, cut off the spike if present and wipe the base clean.
  • Allow the bottom to dry out for several days and then store it in a cardboard box or display box out of direct sunlight.
  • Please note that colours will fade over time. Do not store them in the fridge, freezer, or airtight container as they will not hold up in these containers.
